- Radiographs (X-rays) are not only required to show any bony abnormalities but are essential in diagnosing fractures and dislocations. They are critical in determining the proper treatment of many conditions that affect the foot.
- Ultrasound is used to diagnose soft tissue problems. It allows the doctor to view changes within the foot that are not visible on X-rays.
- Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique in real-time. It can evaluate joints in motion. It can aid in positioning a broken bone or correcting a dislocated digit. This tool helps us fix many problems through surgical corrections with minimal incision.
The combination of X-rays and ultrasound is all that is needed in the majority of cases so that we may adequately diagnose a problem. On rare occasions, we would perform an MRI off-site.
The greatest diagnostic tool of all is experience. With 40 years of treating a wide variety of conditions, Dr. Randell Braun has developed an innate ability to render successful treatment when others have failed.
